Imagine leaving the streets of our Georgian town centre and feeling like you have been transported to an exotic island in the Caribbean. That is what you will experience when you begin your journey through The Rum Story.
Set in the original 1785 shop, courtyards, cellars and bonded warehouses of the Jefferson family, The Rum Story has been authentically designed to provide all-weather family entertainment.
During your visit, you will travel through a tropical rainforest, an African village, a realistic slave ship, Cumbrian cottages, a Cooper's workshop and much, much more.
The Beacon which was Recently re- opened by none other than Her Majesty The Queen and Prince Phillip, are also offering excellent Summer Deals, Kids go Free, under 16's.
The new, interactive Beacon is awash with the history of Copeland.
You'll be amazed at the area's rich past and you won't believe what a great time everyone has exploring the Beacon's five floors!

This exhibition will draw on work of local arts projects and is just one of several events happening in Whitehaven in 2008 to celebrate the anniversary.
Haig Colliery Mining Museum is another Brilliant Local Museum and tells the story of Whitehaven's industrial and Coal mining past. This is Free all Year round to everyone that comes along.
Coal mining in Whitehaven dates back to the thirteenth century when the monks from St Bees Abbey supervised the opening of coal mines at Arrowthwaite. This long history ended abruptly in March 1986 when Haig Pit, Cumbria's last deep coal mine, finally closed.
Haig Colliery Mining Museum Tells the story of how people lived and Worked in this Hazardous Industry, here you will find old Winding Engines that were actually used when the Pit was operational. Fossils from Deep beneath the ocean Floor and various other exhibits are on show. Discover the roll children had to play in the Mining industry.
