Theatre: The Man Who Was Hamlet

George Dillon has been wowing audiences and winning awards for his solo shows for many years and this is another superbly crafted piece of theatre, receiving several 5 star reviews at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2010.

The play tells the comical, tragical and utterly scandalous history of the controversial figure who some believe was the true 'William Shake-speare' - Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford.

If you are interested in theatre, literature, history or just great storytelling, and you haven't heard of Edward de Vere or George Dillon, The Man Who Was Hamlet is a 'must see' show!

"One of the most compelling performances I have seen ... a lesson in the art of acting."
Steven Berkoff

"***** Truly masterly... amazing... electrifying... wicked!"

Theatre: Call Mr Robeson: A Life with Songs

Tayo Aluko brings his award winning story  of Paul Robeson to Rosehill following great acclaim at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2010. Paul Robeson was a great and famous actor, singer and civil rights campaigner. When he became too radical and outspoken for the establishment's liking, he was branded a traitor to his country, harassed and denied opportunities to perform or travel.

This rollercoaster journey through Robeson's remarkable life highlights how his activism caused him to be disowned and disremembered, even by leaders and descendants of the civil rights movement. It features some famous songs and speeches, including a dramatic rendition of Ol' Man River, and a spectacularly defiant testimony to the Senate House Un-American Activities Committee.

Tayo Aluko, who has sung as baritone soloist with the Hallé Orchestra, brings one of the 20th Century's most impressive but overlooked figures back to life in this powerful, compelling tour-de-force performance. Tayo will be accompanied by Michael Conliffe on piano.

"Simply told but immensely powerful. Helps restore him to our collective memory with great grace."
The Scotsman, Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2010

"Aluko is a force of nature. Never less than utterly believable."
