Laurel & Charlie - The Wave, Maryport
Posted: Nov 10 15:15
Written and directed by Kate Bramley (ex-Hull Truck Theatre)
Clowning sketches by Jason Hird (ex-leikin loppu)
A thoroughly modern comedy from Badapple Theatre that pays homage to the early days of two of Britain's most famous comedians. Laurel and Charlie are two jobbing actors who find themselves out of work and trapped in a Yorkshire boarding house, unable to leave until they pay the rent!
When their show is suddenly cancelled watch as they conspire to escape their boarding house and the rent-hungry landlady, using the slapstick charm and hilarity that would soon make them stars of the silent screen and icons of a golden age of comedy.
Directed by Kate Bramley and Leeds based clown Jason Hird this is a hilarious family friendly show that mixes physical theatre, comic dialogue and new film.
"a fresh and very funny take on two characters that are familiar to us all.....the region's brightest light in touring theatre...." NORTHERN ECHO
