Carole Waterhouse has recently had exhibitions entitled ‘Water & Words' which depict beautiful images of the Solway Coast - spectacular sunsets : many from Allonby beach and several of Maryport harbour and marina. Water also features in photography of the magnificent Lake District - sunsets across Derwentwater taken from the beautiful Borrowdale valley.  Both areas reflect peacefulness and serenity at mother nature's best.

To complement the photographs there are several poems written depicting those places - arousing the senses and expanding the mind with minutiae observations.

These are not the only poetry subjects - there is a miscellaneous section added which is varied and vivid - some light and delightful, some deep and profound, and some poignant and thought provoking. Some of them have the words transcribed onto the photograph.

Apart from the framed photographs there is a selection of mounted pictures, and hand made notelets with photographs on which can be used for a variety of occasions - or stand up freely to be enjoyed in their own right until sent. Several of these are of flowers taken for their beauty and colour.

Carole has had a life-long love of photography but  only started using a digital camera in summer 2008, and did not in fact take any pictures in the previous 8 years following the passing of her partner.  What joy to find a passion in the photography this year - from spring 2009 : delighting in the extraordinary beauty of the Lake District and Solway Coast- such gems.  She has been writing poetry since 1971 - sometimes sporadic, sometimes years in between, sometimes prolific.  It always comes easily : usually with just the first 4 or so words - the rest just follow.  Unlike many who read much poetry she has read very little.

The above are creative ways of relaxing and recharging the batteries - a  happy way of  dealing with stressful daily work.

If you would like to see any of the above work or are perhaps interested in a purchase please contact Carole on 017687 76883 0r 07738 930 711

'Derwentwater'

The October half term madness has passed away, It is quiet, serene and magic - the crowds have gone.... The mountains laugh - I and all nature are one. I sit upon a stone, and drink upon the scene, Like a fisherman beneath his brolly, I gaze and dream, The rain patters gently, I wonder upon this place, There's no-where else I'd rather be - I'm drunk with the cup of grace.
