Tried everything? Well here's a programme which really works!
The Cambridge Diet is now available in this corner of Cumbria. I recently qualified as a counsellor and can honestly say that the Diet has really changed my life.
About me
I was a fat kid, a fat teenager and a fat adult. I'd tried every diet going, failed miserably and resigned myself to being unhappy for life. I made a ton of excuses - I was big boned, had a low metabolic rate, etc etc. However the truth was simply that I ate too much of the wrong things. Pizza, chocolate, chips with mayonnaise, crisps and other lovely junk were staples in my diet. Not helped by having a stressful job!
However, in May 2008, I was snapped at a birthday party looking like one of the celebratory balloons. Faced with this horror, I got in touch with a friend who ran the Cambridge Diet. The weight fell off. Look at the difference!

Not only have I shed weight and totally changed my shape, but the Diet has changed my life. Fed up with slaving in an office for 8 hours a day, I left a well paid job in the South of England to come to Cumbria. Having conquered my own weight and food demons, I wanted to help others do the same.

And what about my dieters?
One of my ladies has just lost 2 stone lost in 2 months. She's really starting to look great and her joints don't ache any more. Another two have lost 1 ½ stone so far and two more have lost over a stone in less than a month. They all report feeling great, especially when they see those scales really move, and hear people commenting on their new shape.
It really helps to have a goal. One lady is getting married next October . Another has a holiday to Portugal in June and wants to sun herself on the beach with pride.

So what is this diet?
The Cambridge Diet was invented back in the early 1970s to treat seriously obese patients in hospitals. It was originally just a meal replacement diet . However the meal replacements are now part of 6 flexible programmes, five of which combine the diet with healthy eating. The meal replacements come in a wide range of flavours - ten sweet shakes, seven savoury soups, six chocolate covered meal bars and two flavours of porridge.
How does it work?
The lower calorie programmes work by restricting your calorie and carbohydrate intake, so your body burns its fat stores for energy. The meal replacements contain 100% RDA of your vitamins and minerals, so you still have excellent health while losing weight. An average woman can lose a stone
How much does it cost?
The diet costs between £35-£40 per week for a woman choosing to do ‘meal replacement only' and slightly more for a man (they need a higher intake because of their physical size and muscle mass). This compares favourably with other more recently introduced very low calorie diets which use the same principles. The cost is less for some of the ‘with food' programmes because you need fewer Cambridge meals. This includes all the counselling and support you need.
Where I come in
I screen people carefully for medical issues and food intolerances. I talk to them about lifestyles and we agree programmes which meet their needs. For people with medical issues, I work with the person's GP or practice nurse. I can usually find a programme to suit most people, and it doesn't matter if you've a little to lose or a lot.
As people lose their weight, I will gradually re-introduce conventional, healthy food in a programmed way. By the time a person is at their target weight, they should have a totally different relationship with food than before. They will also understand what they should eat to maintain their new weight.
I provide flexible, one to one support in people's homes, or at my home, or in other settings such as village halls, doctor's surgeries, rooms in workplaces and so on. I'd like to set up at least one regular drop-in session/centre in this area. I'm contactable by mobile or e-mail pretty much 7am till 11pm, 7 days a week and no days are out of bounds for appointments. I will also support people who have lost their weight, but still need help with maintenance. I cover anywhere in this South West corner of Cumbria - from Ulverston, to Barrow and right up to Whitehaven.
Could this diet help someone you know?
Are you in need of rescuing from your body? Do you know people who are miserable with their weight and struggling to get healthy? Why not tell them about what I can offer. If you're working on the mind using complementary therapies, perhaps I can work on the body alongside you. If you're a GP and your practice has obesity issues, why not refer people to me to see what I can do for them before considering drugs or surgery?
